Today I am reflecting so many things.
Today I am reflecting so many things.
Mark Twain wrote, “The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.” Do you ever wish you knew what it’s like for people to die, go to heaven and be sent back by God? This is a true story written by Steven R. Musick. I was impressed by how he shows God is at work in the world. What you will learn is the secret of bringing heaven to earth in your everyday world, and how to nurture a relationship with God so real and intimate that you’ll feel his nearness as strongly as Steve did. I was given this book from blogging for books for an unbiased review. @ 2017 Jackie Paulson
THE ANONYMOUS BOOKAHOLICS TAG
Everything! I am a book buying lover! I love walking into the bookstore and having so many new books tempting me, and looking for the most striking covers, reading blurbs on the back of books, ending up wanting about 5 new books and having to decide which one I’ll choose on that particular day and which will go onto my wish list. I have to say I love hard cover copies of books more than ebooks. I do read both types.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU BUY NEW BOOKS?
I buy most of my books today in resale stores. I always love to go on the treasure hunt in the thrift stores and I always go home with atleast two books I have not read before. I usually hunt for the authors I am currently reading like Brad Meltzer, John Grisham, Johnathon Kellerman.
BOOKSTORE OR ONLINE BOOK SHOPPING – WHICH DO YOU PREFER?
I love hard copy books, so going to thrift stores is what I prefer. If it’s a true crime, thriller or self-help book I will opt for the online ebook to read.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE BOOKSHOP?
I love Boarders for a book hunt but I also love Amazon online books, and Abe books because of the discounted rate.
DO YOU PRE-ORDER BOOKS?
Not usually, but I do buy them as soon as they come out.
DO YOU HAVE A MONTHLY BOOK BUYING LIMIT?
No not really. If I want to read a book I buy it even if I cannot get to reading it right away. I have moved and donated all of my books over the years that right now I am building up my empire of books as we speak which entails of maybe 20 books.
BOOK BUYING BANS – ARE THEY SOMETHING FOR YOU?
HOW BIG IS YOUR WISHLIST?
I keep my want to read or buy books in the Amazon wish list so I don’t forget.
WHICH THREE BOOKS FROM YOUR WISHLIST DO YOU WISH TO OWN NOW?
I wish I owned all of Nicholas Sparks books.
I wish I owned all of Iris Johansen books.
I wish I owned all of Brad Metzler books.
Give a brief story of how your blog started….My blog had to have a name that involved Books as I am a book addict, I buy them and read them and I love to do book reviews. I also at age 50 moved from Illinois to Ohio and started my life over with zero possessions other than my three cats. I have enrolled in College to get my Masters in Human Resources and love to study and learn. I guess it’s an Obsession.
Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers…. One piece of advice to give all of the readers today is that if you join in any of the WordPress Challenges it’s easier to blog! The topics are picked for you and you will be able to find fellow lovers of your craft easily.
The second piece of advice is that in order to gain followers you need to sincerely build relationships and honor other fellow bloggers. Also, get a .com blog it’s worth the money. If I had more money I would do what my friend Jeyran Main does and self-host my blog in a heartbeat. I just found a job in Ohio and I have been here since October of 2016. I am so happy!
The King of Torts by John Grisham
Can a drug which was tested on human subjects make them commit random and senseless killings? Do pharmaceutical companies want to pay settlements to cover it up?
This couldn’t be more perfect to read as I am in college and learning all about legal issues. This is one of my favorite authors now that I have read this legal and suspenseful book. I was surprised how much I already knew in the legal issues with regarding how pharmaceutical company’s make bad drugs with so many side effects that it is easier to make the drugs and settle out of court and still make a profit for drugs that should not be given to consumers.
The Character of Clay Carter is very realistic! The book opens with Clay being a Public Defender with a law degree working in Washington D.C. in a police department. Yes, his pay being very poor, who would rather practice law at a much higher pay rate.
Clay is given a case to defend Tequila Watson, a man accused of a random street killing. But to his surprise, he is visited by a mysterious man named Max Pace. He wants to arrange a series of large pay-offs to a bad drug nicknamed “Tarvan.”
Tequila Watson and others are recovering drug addicts and were experimented on illegally by an unnamed pharmaceutical company. This was a total page turner! Pace pays Clay a lot of money to set up his own law firm to handle the victims. Clay got enough money to specialize in the litigation of torts and he hired his friends who he knew could handle such a task in a fast manner.
Of course the book has a romance with a twist.
As fast as Clay earns the top ten highest paid lawyer in the country he later becomes reckless and is subject to investigations for various crimes, including insider trading. In the end Clay is beaten up by men from Reedsburgh, which send him to the hospital. He loses a huge case against Goffman and previous clients sue him. To that end, Clay loses his wealth, his dreams, and flies to London on the private jet, to start a new life, with his girlfriend only to sell his jet to keep afloat financially in his future. I would recommend this book to anyone with a passion to learn about law. Of course this is a fast read and total entertainment. @ 2017 Jackie Paulson
New thought and the threat to traditional Medicine
The history of new innovations in modern Medicine by James Okun, MD and Evangelita Goodwell
The history of Medicine includes the history of discoveries. In this book, the author will give detailed information on the Dialysis machine, penicillin, the Foley Catheter, a new way of seeing the world, important and new innovation discoveries, as well as what these pioneer had in common as they came to discover the knowledge and tools those in medicine needed to prolong lived.
The reason I wanted to read this book is back in the day my real mom died of penicillin shot because she was allergic to it. I also wanted to learn about cancer since my dad recently died of it.
If it were not for the inventions made by doctors in medicine many would have died in WW II. The author would of become a Board Certified in Ophthalmology if it were not for his two types of disease that prevented him for obtaining it. Who discovered Penicillin? Dr. Alexander Fleming. If it were not for the doctors the author would have died at a very young age from his diseases. This is a book every American should hold in their hands, read, learn, and absorb. This is my all-time favorite book in 2017! @ 2017 Jackie Paulson

To Trust a Wolf – by Danielle Hardgrave
This review was kindly requested by the Author, Danielle Hardgrave
Helen is an archivist working in a museum and she is in charge of an annual event where she collects money from donors to keep the museum running. Her job is very important to her. A historical discovery regarding a Viking hoard attracts a lot of people and that causes an increase in her responsibilities. Unknown to her, there is something hidden in the artefacts which puts her life, museum and everyone else in danger.
Here comes Rune Helsen, a dashing man to her rescue with a secret of his own. His agenda is not pure or clear until the end. However, he does seem to grab the heart of our heroine and as she falls for him, Rune manages to reveal this secret to Helen while explaining the reason why many are interested in the Viking hoard.
She tags along with him on this discovery and they are now on a mission, which will continue on as Book 2.
I was astonished to see how a short story could contain this much novel content. I was very impressed by how this Author did not waste anytime in including backstory and managed to build enough character to continue with her next book.
The paragraphs, literary standard and dialogues were very well put together and easy to understand. There was no fluffing of pages and I was pleased with the mannerism of the entire plot including the twist in the story.
The tale does contain sexual content and supernatural creatures such as, Vikings, Vampires and Werewolves. This paranormal romance did also remind me of the Twilight Saga.
I recommend this book to anyone that is interested in a short story filled with paranormal creatures.
